About Me - Tycha

Challenging Photography

I don’t like writing or talking about myself, so here is only a brief text about me.

Some basic information

I was born in Belgium, I grew up in Belgium and I am proud to be a Belgian living on the countryside.

During business hours, I am a full-time Software quality engineer. After business hours, I am a full-time explorer. You can find me in the woods, in the fields, on rock walls, and even in the rock walls.
I like exploring above-ground and abandoned places left to be taken over by nature and time. It’s called urban exploring. As above ground, I also spent a lot of time underground, exploring quarries, mines, bunkers, cellars, tunnels, and basements, …

How it started

I try to take my camera to all these places and capture moments and document the places I visit. These adventures started coming down my path around my fifteenth birthdate. I was able to join my dad on all of his adventures and see places that regular people don’t visit or see. I kept on doing this and now my boyfriend and I continue to go on adventures.

My photgraphy

In my photographs, my goal is to show the world above but also underground using light painting techniques. My focus has been on photographing underground places or other difficult environments to photograph because I love a challenge. I don’t like to just click a button, there has to be some work in it. I also spent some time photography nature-scapes, cityscapes, and so on.

Because of the lightpainting, I am constantly on the search for new flashlights that will fit my goal.

Sometimes I don’t take my camera just to enjoy the environment I’m going to or just because my hands will be full already because I’m going fossil hunting or climbing.

One of my favorite quotes of Terry Pratchett.
